The starter finally went chewed the pinion gear on the armature. Instead of buying a new starter, I decided to fix the kicker.

So time to pull the primary. I took some threaded rod and some board. Drilled some holes in the board even with the case bolt holes. Worked well till right after I got the last bolt out and went to loosen the board. The threaded rod gave way from the case!
Smacked me in the face! Fun Fun!! (worked to put it back together Not sure what happened.) Glad I had glasses on. Reminds me never follow a dump truck took 5 rocks to the face first 2 knocked me out last 3 woke me back up at speed.
I continued through the clutch removing the rest of the primary. I ordered new steels and fibers. The spring was good and I found that the starter motor only chiped one tooth off the gear the pinion meets. (So I will be able to put another starter motor later on.)
