Ticking Time Bomb

I got the front head back on new piston, rings, springs, collars, valves (lapped). The guides were good no leaks.
I loved the look of the new shine on the front head so much. That, I rattle canned the tank and fenders, to give that positive negative look, light dark through the bike.
For my first ever valve job and piston change, it went pretty well. Ha
I went methodically though the head not knowing what was wrong.. I tried just lapping the valves. SMOKE! Took it all apart again put in new collars and springs with a quick lapping. SMOKE! Ordered new valves dissasembled the front head again this time giving it a good lapping with the new valves.
Now there was a difference now could see it wasn't smoking as much. I got to ride a lil bit. The smoke returned this time was even worse. At this point I was completely fed up with this bike. I had gone through it over and over read the book cover to cover in association with online videos and forums, I was just exhausted.
I went and got my self a compression tester. She was showing a nice 130 on both heads. In spite of smoke pouring out. So I went and got a leak down tester. She still sat at around 30 on a leak down. Puzzled Had my friend Brian come by and we both tried to do the test again. Surprised again to find the Iron in the green.
Well make sure its hooked up right. in reading the directions says to listen while performing the leakdown. We had a lot of trouble locking the bike in 4th gear to get an accurate reading at TDC (top dead center) without a multiple leaking sound till we got down to one sound. Started looking all over the bike listening to the pipes, to the heads, to the carb. I had the timing hole plug out and happened to stick my finger across covering the hole and could feel the air escaping. Anything below the jugs has to be the pistons. Began taking the bike apart immediately. As soon as we pulled the jug all the little bits of the old ring started to fall into the rag. I was devistated.
